The graduated approach – the whys and hows explained

This workshop aims to provide the audience with an accessible overview and explanation of what the graduated approach is to SEND provision and the importance of engaging in the process in a much more joined up capacity to ensure that all children and young people have access to the most appropriate and personalised provision, this will in turn, create a much more robust evidence base when seeking external agency support and eventual support from the LA if required.

Learning objectives:

• I will be familiar with the CoP 2014 and how this statutory guidance relates to the graduated approach
• I will be able to understand what the graduated approach is and how it can be used within my setting as a whole school approach
• I will be confident in my statutory responsibility towards children and young people to ensure that they are truly accessing the most appropriate provision by following the graduated approach
